  • Rinse 1 cup of brown basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  • Combine the rice, 2.5 cups of water, and ½ teaspoon of salt in a saucepan. Bring to a boil.
  • Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 40 minutes. For a quicker method, cook using the instant pot basmati brown rice setting for 22 minutes.
  • Turn off the heat and let the rice rest for 5 minutes, covered.
  • Fluff with a fork, garnish with herbs, and serve.
